Solaforce is growing rapidly also internationally and hence we are looking for a Senior Backend Developer into the small yet mighty product development team in Espoo. The team is aiming to have balanced and senior-level expertise both in backend/infrastructure and in frontend. Right now we need more expertise in the backend. In this position, you’ll lead the backend development of the cloud-based HR software that has been built around 5 years ago from the scratch. We have utilized modern technologies right from the beginning and that’s our goal in the future as well. This is a great next step for a skilled backend developer who is looking for a job with responsibilities and modern technologies.

Your responsibility will be further developing and leading the development of the backend. At first, you’ll focus on the technological transformation as we are currently modernizing the codebase from Scala to Node.js. You’ll get to plan and influence the technological choices and architecture as well as write the code and implement new features hands-on. This means bigger architectural entities in the backend, for example, configuring functionalities in the software such as user roles, user rights, and approval chains. If you wish and prefer, you can also work full-stack. An important part of your job is also to guide our software development partner in Romania that includes about ten developers. You will also cooperate with a few other developer colleagues in Finland. The product development team works with Scrum methods in 3 weeks sprints. Tech stack consists of Linux, AWS, PostgreSQL, Scala, Java, Node.js, Docker REST API, JavaScript, jQuery, and React. You will succeed in the role with solid experience in the backend and skills with Node.js.

We hope you have:

- Strong skills with Node.js and databases (e.g. PostgreSQL)

- Previous relevant work experience from developing large systems that require performance for a high amount of users simultaneously

- Willingness to take responsibility and guide other developers

- Fluent skills in English

We consider as an asset (but don’t require):

- Skills with one or more from the rest of our tech stack: Linux, AWS or another cloud service, Scala, Java, Docker, REST API, JavaScript, jQuery, and React

- Previous experience and/or understanding of information security practices
