Mikro-Väylä Oy is a family owned business founded in the 1980s. The company designs and manufactures Bookmatic library automation devices and RFID readers for libraries and logistics centers across Finland and Europe. Mikro-Väylä’s team of 14 employees is proud of its own product development to take libraries to the modern and digitalized era. As of 2021, Mikro-Väylä’s operations have become more international as the market area expanded abroad with partner companies.

Mikro-Väylä is looking for a Junior Software Developer to join the team located mainly in Jyväskylä and Helsinki. The position includes developing Mikro-Väylä’s Bookmatic-products and other library automation solutions as a team with other developers. As a Junior Developer you will start off by familiarizing yourself with the devices and code with the support of experienced colleagues. As you grow in the position you will participate in the full stack development including user interfaces, adding new features and improving current solutions.

We are looking for a motivated doer who has gained some coding experience and knows the software development basics for example from studies, own projects or work/internships. Ideally you are graduated or in the final stages of engineering, datanome or other IT related studies. We will familiarize you with our software, products and technologies, but we hope you have a basic understanding of C# or other equivalent language. As a person you have a curious and proactive attitude with a great interest towards our products and automation solutions. Most importantly you are willing to grow your skills and learn more about new technologies and devices. If you are currently finalizing your studies, we offer the opportunity to do your final thesis as part of your job.

We require you to have: 

-A relevant degree or studies in the final stage, for example from the University of Applied Sciences, Vocational school or University

-Programming experience (through hobbies, work experience or school projects)

-Basic knowledge and skills with C#

-Version control and Github knowledge

-Basic understanding of automation equipment

-A genuine interest in learning and developing their skills

-Fluency in English - fluent Finnish is considered an advantage
