Through Åland’s second societal innovation challenge, the government wants to experiment with new ideas and fresh approaches to optimize the ferry usage and offer simpler transportation service to the people. We are looking for ideas and solutions that could answer the following questions:

• How to make it easier for tourists and people living in the outer archipelago to book & travel the ferries?
• How to manage and optimize the capacity usage on ferries so that they don’t run empty while people weren’t able to book a slot onboard when they needed to?

Please note: In this Challenge we want you to focus on the booking and capacity issues, while assuming no changes to timetables or the fleet itself.
